Voyons quelques classements J-Music 2018 issus des charts Oricon. C'est à voir en complément des classements de singles en téléchargement et d'après Billboard, ainsi que de mon article sur le 69e Kôhaku, l'émission musicale de la NHK qui résume aussi à sa manière l'année écoulée.
Let's see some different J-Music rankings 2018 issued from the Oricon charts. It is complementary to the singles download ranking and Billboard charts, and to my article about the 69th Kouhaku, the musical show of the NHK which sums up on its own way the ending year.
Tops Enka & Albums Oricon 2018
Okinawa, parfum citron / Lemon-flavored Okinawa
Le Top annuel des singles de l'Oricon est, de part la nature du décompte (vente physiques) et la nature du marché (collectionnite et/ou bons pour voter pour ses Idols préférées...), très largement trusté par les groupes d'Idols féminines (quasi-exclusivement de l'agence AKS) et masculines (de chez Johnny's).
Sur ce site, nous allons donc plutôt regarder les principaux chiffres de ventes, pour prendre la température du marché de la musique japonaise en 2018, puis nous nous intéresserons aux classements Albums et Enka, plus représentatifs.
The yearly Singles Charts of the Oricon are, due to the inner nature of the accounting (physical sales) and of the market (collection-addicts and / or voting vouchers for one's favorite Idols...), largely trusted by female Idols bands (mostly from AKS agency) and male ones (from Johnny's).
One this site, we will rather check the main sales data, to see how is the Japanese music market in 2018, then we will see the Albums and Enka rankings, more representative.
As we will see in the rankings below, the Idols are far more scattered yet the AKB48 reach 2nd (611 000 units). They are beaten only by the just "retired", at 40, Amuro Namie, "Queen of Hip-Pop", whose ultimate Best of Finally sold nearly 639 000.
At the 3rd place, the veteran hippies of Southern All-Stars whose albums are becoming rare but are still highly awaited for (562 000).
Amuro Namie se paye le luxe d'arriver en plus en tête de toutes les catégories DVD et BD, musicaux ou généraux (plus vendus que Star Wars, etc !) avec un total de plus de 1 757 000 exemplaires ! Il est vrai que ses performances scéniques et en danse valent largement autant que ses chansons.
Ce sont les Johnny's de Arashi et Hey!Say!JUMP (pour leurs 10 ans) qui complètent le podium.
Amuro Namie seizes the 1st place too in all the categories of DVD and Blu-ray, the musical ones and overall (better than Star Wars and the like !) wth a total of more than 1 757 000 units ! It is true that her stage and dance performances worth it.
The Johnny's of Arashi and Hey!Say!JUMP (for their 10th anniversary) complete the podium.
"Finally", c'est donc Amuro Namie qui remporte la palme de la plus grosse vendeuse en physique cette année-là, avec un total de 19 milliards de yens, soit ~152 millions d'euros !
Elle est la 1e artiste femme solo à prendre la tête depuis... 2007 (et Koda Kumi) !! Derrière, on ne trouve d'ailleurs que des groupes, essentiellement Idols: Nogizaka46 (10 329 000 000￥), AKB48 (7 795 000 000), Arashi (6 707 000 000) et les Sandaime J Soul Brothers, groupe de l'EXILE TRIBE (5 827 000 000).
"Finally", it is thus Amuro Namie who wins the palm of the greatest physical seller this year, with a total of 19 billions yens, that is ~160 millions dollars !
She is the 1st female solo artist to take the lead since... 2007 (and Koda Kumi) !! Below, there are only bands, mostly Idols: Nogizaka46 (10 329 000 000￥), AKB48 (7 795 000 000), Arashi (6 707 000 000) et les Sandaime J Soul Brothers, groupe de l'EXILE TRIBE (5 827 000 000).
Arashi fait à peine la moitié de son chiffre de 2016 où il était en tête. Peut-être que cela aussi a pesé sur leur annonce de pause indéterminée pour 2020. Mais Namie explose donc leur chiffre de l'époque, et de même les Sandaime font mieux que les 5e de 2016, les Kanjani8.
2018 apparaît donc comme une bonne année pour l'industrie de la J-Music, meilleure même que 2015, en grande partie grâce au vent de nostalgie qui a accompagné la retraite prématurée de la native d'Okinawa.
Arashi achieve only half their amount of 2016 when they were number one. Maybe this too had an influence on their decision of indefinite break for 2020. But Namie exploses their sales at that time and, as well do the Sandaime compared to the 5th of 2016, the Kanjani8.
2018 appears thus as a good year for the J-Music industry, even better than 2015, mainly thanks to the wind of nostalgia which came along with the early retirement of the Okinawa-born star.
On notera en plus que les 2 Best of Love Collection 2 Pink et Mint de Nishino Kana étaient déjà en 53 et 54e places, alors qu'ils ne sont sortis qu'en novembre 2018 !
En dehors du podium dont j'ai déjà parlé, ce sont 2 autres artistes non-Idols très populaires qui arrivent en 4e et 5e position : Mr Children qui fêtait ses 25 ans l'année dernière, et Utada Hikaru une des "reines de la J-Pop" avec un album de confirmation 2 ans après son comeback très attendu.
En 13e position, se glisse un auteur-compositeur-interprète inconnu du grand public il y a encore 2 ans, Yonezu Kenshi, dont on a vu qu'il était le seul non-Idol à avoir placé un single dans le Top 25 Oricon ! In 13th position, a singer-songwriter who was still unknown to a wide audience 2 years ago steps in : Yonezu Kenshi, who was the only non-Idol to place a single in the Top 25 Oricon ! The revelation of 2017 thanks to 3-4 first noticeable songs including 2 popular anime tie-ups (My Hero Academy and Fireworks in duo with DAOKO) explodes the J-Music landscape with the corresponding album Bootleg, and then his 2018 singles, Lemon in particular.
Côté étranger on note une grosse présence K-Pop avec la vague mondiale BTS, bien sûr, mais aussi l'adoption du groupe féminin TWICE, invité aux Kôhaku 2017 et 2018, qui compte 2 Japonaises. Beaucoup de ces chansons K-Pop sont réinterprétées en japonais en fait.
Concernant les Idols japonaises, hors AKB, on constate qu'elles sont très bas dans le classement, alors que les Johnny's sont régulièrement répartis... Les wotas auraient-ils tout claqué dans les singles ?
Regarding foreigners, there is a huge presence of K-Pop with the worldwide trend of BTS, of course, but also the adoption of the female band TWICE, invited at the Kouhaku 2017 and 2018, who include 2 Japanese girls. Most of these K-Pop songs are self-covered in Japanese, in fact.
Regarding the Japanese Idols, except AKB, they are very low in the ranking, while the Johnny's are regularly placed... Did the wotas spend all there money in singles ?
Le J-Rock est pas trop mal représenté : les jeunes Wanima en 11e pour leur 1er album en Major, les Best of Sakanaction et UVERworld et le 5e album de MWAM entre la 30e et la 40e aux côtés de... Queen 😎 !
J-Rock is quite well represented : the young Wanima in 11th with their 1st Major album, the Best of Sakanaction and UVERworld, and the 5th album of MWAM between the 30th and the 40th beside... Queen 😎 !
Enfin, notons l'OVNI Matenro x Mad Trigger Crew / Fling Poss, 2 albums de... rappeurs ikemen virtuels tout juste lancés sous l'appellation Hypnosismic-Division Rap Battle, déjà dans le top 50 bien que sans grand support média pourtant (anime, jeu...) à ma connaissance. Ce ne sont pas des Vocaloid mais un Love Live-like.
To conclude, let's mention the UFO Matenro x Mad Trigger Crew / Fling Poss, 2 albums of... virtual ikemen rappers just launched under the name of Hypnosismic-Division Rap Battle, and already in the Top 50 while without noticeable media support (anime, game...) to my knowledge. These are not Vocaloid but a Love Live-like.
C'est donc l'indétrônable "Prince de l'Enka" Hikawa Kiyoshi qui se classe n°1 du Top Enka-Kayô, ce qui correspond à la 52e place du Top Oricon singles général.
Le Top 10 est quasi exclusivement composé d'habitués du Kôhaku, une des rares émissions musicales grand public à donner du temps d'antenne au genre. Les exceptions sont donc notables: le "men band" Junretsu en 3e avec leur Kayôkyoku de crooners qui leur a valu une 1ère invitation au Kôhaku 2018, l'expérimenté Takeshima Hiroshi et la "encore jeune" Mori Konomi (déjà bien classée l'année dernière) sans participation encore. Leur nouvelle notoriété a valu à Junretsu l'intérêt de paparazzi, qui ont découvert début 2019 que l'un d'eux avait battu son ex-femme tout en la trompant ! Il a été exclu du groupe dans la foulée...

Il faut descendre à la 10e et 11e place pour trouver leurs collègues masculins avec le tout nouveau groupe King & Prince et sa Cinderella Girl (688 000), générique de la suite du célèbre drama Hana yori dango, Hana nochi hare, dans lequel l'un d'eux joue le rôle principal. Ils devancent ainsi leurs grands sempai d'Arashi, qui a annoncé sa quasi-retraite début 2019, avec Natsu hayate (538 000) !

Ce ne sont pas des Vocaloid mais un Love Live-like.

C'est donc l'indétrônable "Prince de l'Enka" Hikawa Kiyoshi qui se classe n°1 du Top Enka-Kayô, ce qui correspond à la 52e place du Top Oricon singles général.
Le Top 10 est quasi exclusivement composé d'habitués du Kôhaku, une des rares émissions musicales grand public à donner du temps d'antenne au genre. Les exceptions sont donc notables: le "men band" Junretsu en 3e avec leur Kayôkyoku de crooners qui leur a valu une 1ère invitation au Kôhaku 2018, l'expérimenté Takeshima Hiroshi et la "encore jeune" Mori Konomi (déjà bien classée l'année dernière) sans participation encore. Belle perf' aussi de la jeune ex-AKB48 (!) Iwasa Misaki, 12e.
On remarquera le doublé de Fukuda Kôhei, un habitué, et celui de Kitayama Takeshi dont un duo, qui lui vaut une 1ere invitation au Kôhaku 2018 avec Ooe Yutaka.
Leur nouvelle notoriété a valu à Junretsu l'intérêt de paparazzi, qui ont découvert début 2019 que l'un d'eux avait battu son ex-femme tout en la trompant ! Il a été exclu du groupe dans la foulée...

Thus it is the "Prince of Enka", Hikawa Kiyoshi who reigns on top of this Enka-Kayo Top, which corresponds to the 52th rank in the overall Oricon Singles chart.
The Top 10 is nearly exclusively composed by usual guests of the Kouhaku, one of the rare large-audience TV show to give time to this genre. The exceptions are therefore remarkable: the "men band" Junretsu in 3rd with their crooners Kayôkyoku which granted them a 1st appearance to the 2018 Kouhaku, the veteran Takeshima Hiroshi and the "still young" Mori Konomi (already well ranked last year) without appearance yet. Congratulations too to the young ex-AKB48 (!) Iwasa Misaki, 12th.
We also note the combo of Fukuda Kôhei, a usual guest, and of Kitayama Takeshi including a duo, which granted him a 1st invitation to the Kouhaku 2018 with Ooe Yutaka.
The new notoriety led Junretsu to get the attention of the paparazzi, who discovered at the beginning of 2019 that one of them had beaten his ex-wife while having an affair. This one has been promptly fired from the band...
