2016 was marked by some comeback of stars like Utada Hikaru and The Yellow Monkey, by the creation of a new big female Idols band (Keyakizaka46) and the disband of the most popular Johnny's band (SMAP), not forgetting the worldwide breakout of Pikotarou... To try to analyze their impacts and follow the evolution of the musical scene of Japan, here are several annual rankings of singles, albums, rentals and downloads, as well as a specific Enka ranking, in Japan in 2016 according to different actors.

Le classement Oricon est sans doute le plus célèbre agrégateur de résultats de ventes du Japon. Le plus régulièrement critiqué aussi, du coup, ou malgré tout, pour sa méthodologie assez brute (somme des ventes physiques dans les magasins référencés, indépendamment des "versions") qui tend à surestimer la popularité des Idols notamment ^^'.

Utada Hikaru reprend le titre de Queen of J-Pop pour son retour après 5 ans de pause en se classant 3e, tandis que le chanteur et guitariste vétéran à la voix toujours claire et résonante Oda Kazumasa atteint la 4e avec son Best of. Arashi prend la tête avec 745 000 unités vendues. On trouve aussi dans le top 10 Ikimonogakari pour leur Best of des 10 ans, juste avant leur pause, et le célèbre acteur et chanteur Fukuyama Masaharu. Utada Hikaru takes back the title of Queen of J-Pop with her comeback after a break of 5 years ranking 3rd, while the singer and guitarist veteran Oda Kazumasa and his still clear and sound voice reaches the 4th with his Best of. Comme l'année dernière, ce sont les Johnny's Arashi qui se classent en tête des meilleures ventes totales (singles, albums, vidéos) pour la 12e fois, avec plus de 12 milliards de yens (~100 millions de dollars ou euros !), tandis que les Sandaime J-Soul Brothers from EXILE TRIBE gagnent une place. On les retrouve dans cet ordre d'ailleurs dans le classement albums.
Côté Idols, les Nogizaka46 détrônent leurs aînées des AKB48 malgré leur domination en singles, pour grimper sur la 3e place ! Il faut dire que ces dernières n'ont pas sorti d'album cette année-là, qui était pourtant celle de leurs 10 ans (un best of était sorti en 2015)...

Cette année a donc encore vu la domination des Idols masculines et féminines, tout en confirmant le succès des Sandaime JSB. En singles, au milieu de l'océan de titres Idols, on note la percée de singles J-Pop et même J-Rock issus de dramas très populaires. Un titre du Prince de l'Enka crée même la surprise en atteignant le Top 50 en revenant aux vieilles cassettes audio !

In the singles chart, in the middle of the Idols ocean, on notices the breakthrough of J-Pop and even J-Rock songs issued from very popular dramas and anime, in particular Kimi no Na wa (Your name). A track of the Prince of Enka even surprises by reaching the Top 50, thanks to comeback to the old audio tapes !
